Getting started
When you start B-Folders for the first time, there is no database
and you need to create one. Provide a strong password (combinations of
words,
numbers and symbols are best) and most importantly – make sure
you
remember the password. B-Folders cannot recover lost passwords
–
without it, all your data will be permanently lost.
Whenever you start B-Folders, you will be asked to provide the
password in order to unlock the database. For security reasons, your
database will be automatically locked after a period of inactivity. You
can also manually lock the database when you are done using your data.
Desktop edition
Creating a database
When you start B-Folders for the first time, there is no database
and a New Database dialog is displayed. After the
database has been created, you will see three vertical panes in the
main application window.
The main application window
The main application window displays three vertical panes which are
used for browsing, viewing and editing items. They are displayed in a
fixed layout, but can be resized using the vertical splitters between
them.
Locking and unlocking the database
To manually lock your database, press the Lock database
button on the main toolbar. You can control the amount of time before
auto-locking by making a different selection in the Unlock database
dialog box.
NOTE TO USERS OF WINDOWS 7: The “Live Taskbar Preview”
feature allows you to see a preview “screenshot” of its
open windows. If one of your open applications is B-Folders, this could
create a security issue (possibly revealing sensitive data), even if
the database is locked. For that reason, it is best to set the screen
saver to “active” after a period of inactivity and show the
logon screen on “resume.”
Android edition

when you start the application. It acts like a menu and allows you to
easily access the most common features of the application.
Creating a database

you will be required to create a new one. After the database is
created, you will see the Folders screen.
NOTE: You can easily enter numeric passwords by using the special
on-screen numeric keypad. To use it, press the 123 button.
Locking database
Your database will be automatically locked after a period of
inactivity. To manually lock your database, press the Lock
button on the Home
screen of B-Folders. You can control the amount of time before
auto-locking by selecting the Settings > Auto lock
timeout
option.
NOTE: Auto lock timeout can be set in the Unlock database
dialog except on devices with small screens.
Unlocking database
You must provide the password in a dialog box either with your usual
input method or by using the numeric keypad. The latter option provides
a
convenient way to enter numeric passwords. To use the numeric keypad,
press the 123 button; to use your usual input, press the ABC
button.
